PlacePoint exists to make finding a place to live in the Baltics feel less like scrolling through a spreadsheet and more like exploring the city you want to live in. Owners post a listing in minutes; renters and buyers browse a real map, message owners directly, and decide on their own terms — no subscription, no hidden fees, no broker required.
Existing real-estate sites in the region either lock the most useful filters behind paid plans, push aggressive ads, or hide the actual location of a property until you call a broker. We thought a marketplace could be plain about all of this. So we built one: free for renters and buyers; free for owners to list; an optional, transparent boost if an owner wants more visibility for a few days. That is the entire business model.
A real map, not a list pretending to be one
Listings live on a real map of Riga and the Baltics. Cluster, zoom, draw a polygon to search by district. Distance, public transport, and shape of the city matter when you are choosing where to live.
Plain pricing, no subscription
Browsing is free. Listing is free. The only thing you ever pay for is an optional boost — a one-time fee to raise a listing in our visibility ranking for a limited time. Nothing else is paywalled.
Privacy by default
We do not sell user data, do not run an advertising-cookie program, and store the minimum we need. Passwords are hashed with Argon2id, sensitive fields are encrypted at rest, and traffic is TLS 1.2+ end-to-end.
Boosts, not algorithmic favouritism
Boosting is the only thing that adjusts visibility for money. Boosted listings are flagged as such; the underlying ranking factors (recency, completeness, location relevance) are the same for everyone.
Multilingual at the surface
PlacePoint is available in English, Latvian, and Russian. Listings can be entered in any of those languages and we display them as the owner wrote them. Russian is offered for convenience; the legally binding language is Latvian for residents of Latvia and English for everyone else.
Marketplace neutrality
We are a venue, not a party to your transaction. We do not collect rent, hold deposits, or act as a broker. We do remove listings that violate our terms or local law.
Renters and buyers explore the map, filter by price, size, district, and amenities, save favorites, and compare candidates side-by-side.
Owners create a free account, post a listing with photos and a precise location, and receive messages from interested renters/buyers in their inbox.
When an owner wants more visibility, they can purchase a boost — a small one-time fee that raises the listing in the ranking for a fixed window.
PlacePoint stays out of the conversation: the deal is between the two people. Our job is to make finding each other easier.
